Youngstown State senior guard Quin Humphrey (Ellenwood, Ga.) was named to the Horizon League's preseason all-conference first team, the league office announced on Thursday. Humphrey was a first-team All-Horizon League selection last season after leading the league by averaging 19.2 points and 8.3 rebounds per game. As a junior, he scored 538 points and grabbed 233 rebounds. He became the first Penguin since Reggie Kemp in 1989-90 to score more than 500 points and grab over 200 rebounds in the same year. Humphrey, who scored in double figures in 27 of 28 games, had the fourth-highest point total by a YSU player since YSU joined the Division I ranks in 1981-82. Joining Humphrey on the first team are Loyola guard Blake Schilb, Detroit guard Brandon Cotton, Wright State guard DaShaun Wood and UW-Green Bay guard Ryan Evanochko. Schilb was tabbed the conference's preseason player of the year. In the preseason team voting, Loyola is tabbed as the favorite while UW-Green Bay is second.
