Akron, Ohio – The Youngstown State men's basketball team jumped out to a 17-point first-half lead and held a 15-point advantage with 13 minutes left, but they could not hold off a veteran Akron squad losing 67-62 on Saturday at the Rhoades Arena in Akron.

YSU fouled Dials with five seconds left who sank two free throws to seal the victory.
In the first half, the Penguins came to play jumping out to a 27-10 lead when Roberts connected on a 3-pointer just over 11 minutes into the game.
The Zips cut the deficit to 33-25 on a Joyce layup with 2:49 left in the opening half but YSU was able to build the lead back up to 38-27 at the break.
