Vicky Rumph Earns Capital One Academic All-America Honors
Youngstown State junior softball catcher Vicky Rumph (Mount Forest, Ontario) was selected third-team Capital One Academic All-American by the College Sports Information Directors of America, the organization announced on Thursday.

In 2012, Rumph posted a .340 batting average with 53 hits, 28 runs scored, 13 doubles, four home runs and a .975 fielding percentage. She was one of just three Penguins to start all 51 games this past year.

In the classroom, she carries a 3.85 grade-point average as a chemistry major.

Rumph is the 13th student-athlete in school history to receive Academic All-America honors. Of the 13, 10 have been honored since 2001.

The first-team catcher was Missouri junior Jenna Marston while Florida junior Kelsey Horton was a second-team pick. Rumph was one of three student-athletes on the third team, joined by UIC's Coryn Schmit and Wright State's Colleen Schneider.
