Penguins Have Strong Final Round at NYX Hoosier Invitational
Bloomington, Ind. - The Youngstown State men's golf team had the second-lowest round of the day at the NYX Hoosier Invitational which concluded on Sunday at the Indiana University Golf Course.

The Penguins, Wisconsin and Indiana each carded scores of 288 on Sunday. Cincinnati had the low round for the day with a 286. The Badgers were the wire-to-wire winner with an 853. The Penguins finished 14th out of 17 teams with a three-round total of 887. The Guins shot scores of 298 and 301 on Saturday.

Brandon Pluchinsky led the way with a top-10 finish in a strong field. Pluchinsky tied for eighth with a three-round score of 213. Pluchinsky had rounds of 71, 72 and 70 for the tournament and finished with an even-par total. He had three birdies on the front side and had all pars on the final nine on Sunday.

For the Penguins, Bill Gaffney was 50th with a three-round 225. Gaffney had a 71 on Sunday after rounds of 74 and 80 on Saturday. Gaffney ended on a strong note with three birdies on back nine and carded a three-under-par 32 in his last nine holes.

Bryan Yeo had a 74 on Sunday and finished with a 227 for the event to finish 60th. He had scores of 77 and 76 on Saturday.

Justin Hallapy and Steven Sveda tied for 74th with scores of 230. Hallapy had rounds of 76, 75 and 79 while Sveda had totals of 79, 78 and 73.

The Penguins play their final regular-season tournament of the campaign when they compete at the Penn State Rutherford Intercollegiate on April 18-19. The Horizon League Championships are set for April 24-26.
