Penguins Spring Student-Athlete Graduates Have Impressive Marks

An impressive group of 37 student-athletes had their undergraduate degrees confirmed from Youngstown State University following the completion of the 2015 spring semester. Of those who received their diplomas following the spring semester, nearly two thirds did so with honors.

The student-athletes received their degrees at the commencement ceremony at the Beeghly Center on May 16. Many others participated in the ceremony, but are on track to graduate this summer. The university will not hold a summer commencement this year so students could be in attendance after the spring term.

Earning their degrees were the following student-athletes: Shawn Amiker (basketball), Adaris Bellamy (football), Alex Cooper (track and field), Casey Crozier (softball), Casey Cullen (swimming and diving), Carly Dean (swimming and diving), Nick DiNello (baseball), Clay Febus (track and field), Sebastian Hagn (tennis) Sarah Ingalls (softball), Zeeshan Ismail (tennis), Dawoud Kabli (tennis), Ryan Krokos (baseball), Caroline Krombach (softball), Karlie Ligore (track and field), Allison Ludwig (soccer), Austin Lujano (baseball), Nic Manuppelli (baseball), Brooke Meenachan (softball), Aislynn Merling (golf), Allison Mitzel (golf), Angela Molaskey (golf), Eric Myers (football ), Josh North (baseball), Jessica Parham (track and field), Hannah Ropp (track and field), David Saluga (baseball), Max Schmerin (tennis), Kearsten Sego (soccer), Jen Shiley (track and field), Ashley Smith (track and field/XC), Brittany Stockmaster (track and field/XC), Nicole Vlad (track and field), Latisha Walker (basketball), Shannon Watson (volleyball), Brianna Wise (track and field) and Steve Zaborsky (football).

Those graduating Magna Cum Laude were Crozier, Merling, Mitzel, Myers, Ropp and Stockmaster. Those graduating Summa Cum Laude were Ingalls, Ludwig, Saluga, Sego, Smith, Vlad and Wise. Student-athletes who graduated Cum Laude include DiNello, Ismail, Kabli, Mannupelli, Meenachan, Parham, Shiley, Walker and Watson.

Earning Master's Degree were former Penguins Torrian Pace (football), Robert Switka (baseball), Nate Adams (football) and Blake Allen (basketball). Former YSU baseball player Corey Vukovic earned his Doctorate in Physical Therapy as well.

A group of behind-the-scenes students who worked in Athletics during a portion of their undergrad careers received their degrees as well following the spring semester. That group includes: Ashley Kent, Dan Dougherty and Catherine Wilaj.
