Impressive Turnout at West Coast Chill Penguin Club Scholarship Golf Outing

Youngstown -- A full flight of 144 golfers participated in and spent time with YSU coaches and student-athletes at the 2015 West Coast Chill Penguin Club Scholarship Golf Outing at the Youngstown Country Club on Wednesday, June 10.

Presenting sponsors of the outing were A.P. O'Horo, Compco Industries, Johnson Controls, and Packer Thomas, lunch was courtesy of DiRusso's Sausage, Nemenz IGA and Pepsi while dinner was catered Gia Russa.

The outing was a four-person, best-ball scramble at the picturesque par-71, 6,071-yard course. The event started with a shotgun start at noon with 36 foursomes competing.

The group of Dr. Mike Miladore, Joe Miladore, Gregg Strollo, Rebell Strollo, and Assistant Football Coach Shane Montgomery won the event by two strokes shooting a 14-under par round of 57.

Placing second in a scorecard tie-breaker was the group of Joe Valentini, Mike Ferranti, Matt Prologo, Mike Orbovich and Assistant Football Coach Brian Crist. The group shot a 12-under par round of 59.

The foursome of Ray Briya, Dom Marchionda, Randy Barker, and the Honorable Scott Krichbaum also shot a 12-under 59 to finish third.

Skill-prize winners included Vince Lehman (Longest Putt at No. 15 – 15’2”), Tom Klim (Longest Drive –Men - at No. 5), Jackie Prologo (Longest Drive – Women – at No. 5), Joe Muccio (Closest to the Pin at No. 6 – 2’8”), Krichbaum (Closest to the Pin at No. 9 – 18’0”), and Adam Trent (Closest to the Pin at No. 12 – 10’10”).

The event provides funds for YSU Athletics Scholarships. Major sponsors for the events included: Giannios Candy Co., Eagle Wear, BSN Sports and Pepsi.
