Six Penguins Named ITA Scholar-Athletes, Program Receives Team Award
Six members of the Youngstown State men's tennis team were named Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Scholar-Athletes. As a group, the Penguins were also recognized as an ITA All-Academic Team.

For the 2014-15 academic year, the Penguins posted a cumulative grade-point average of 3.57. Student-athletes Dawoud Kabli, Albert Masso, Silviu Mistreanu, Hugo Morth, Youssef Sherif and Gabriel Tolesani were named to the ITA Scholar-Athlete team. Brendel, Ferry, Lackova and Stroe all had 4.00 GPAs in 2014-15 while Burak had a 3.96.

The ITA All-Academic Team award is open to any ITA program that has a cumulative team grade-point average of 3.20 or above (on a 4.00 scale). All varsity letter-winners should be factored into the cumulative team GPA for the current academic year (including fall 2014 and spring 2015).

In order to earn ITA Scholar-Athlete status a player must meet the following criteria: be a varsity letter-winner, have a grade-point average of at least 3.50 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year, and have been enrolled at their present school for at least two semesters.
