Conner Neu Finishes First to Open YSU National Invitational
The Youngstown State track and field team opened up the first day of action at the YSU National Invitational as Conner Neu placed first in the weight throw Friday afternoon at the WATTS.

Neu had a toss of 21.02 meters to beat out 25 competitors in the men's weight throw.

In the distance events, Ryan Sullivan came in second with a time of 14:33.12 in the men's 5,000-meter run. Michelle Klim placed fourth with a time of 17:51.91 in the women's 5,000-meter run.

In the jumps, Ellie Pollock took fifth in the long jump with a leap of 5.52 meters. For the men's long jump, Berry Montravius placed second with a jump of 7.00 meters.

In the throws, Jayne Corbett finished second in the weight throw with a toss of 15.98 meters and Matt Monroe came in fourth for the men's weight throw with a toss of 16.47 meters.

For the women's pole vault, Caitlyn Trebella, Shelby Marken and Emily Gillespie tied for fourth with a jump of 3.30 meters.

At the Armory Elite Invitational, Chad Zallow qualified for finals in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 7.82 seconds. Nina Grambling placed 14th in the 60-meter dash semi-finals setting a time of 7.581 seconds. In the men's 60-meter dash semi-finals, Carl Zallow took 18th with a time of 6.87 seconds.
The Penguins will continue the second day of competition on Saturday as the field events will start at 10 a.m. and running events to begin at 11 a.m.A
