Conner Neu Tabbed Horizon League Track and Field Athlete of the Year
Youngstown State senior thrower Conner Neu was recognized as the Horizon League's Alfreeda Goff Men's Track and Field Athlete of the Year for his efforts during the season. The award was presented to Neu on Sunday at the conference track and field championships.

He is the first YSU men's athlete to be named the Outdoor Athlete of the Year.

Most recently, Neu won the hammer throw at the Horizon League Championships on Sunday with a meet-record throw of 69.61 meters. He broke his own record of 64.22m that he set in 2014. He was also sixth in the discus and 10th in the shot put at the league meet.

At the Horizon League meet his shortest throw was 66.96 meters and that would have won the event by almost nine-and-a-half meters. He had four throws of at least 68 meters and two of those went 90 plus.

Through May 9, Neu ranks fourth in the country in the hammer throw at 70.96 meters. He is one of just seven throwers nation wide to have a throw of more than 70 meters this spring.

That top-five throw came on April 2 at the Slippery Rock Dave Labor Invitational. He had three throws of 69-or-more meters at the Jesse Owens Classic at Ohio State.

Neu was recognized as the YSU Men's Scholar-Athlete of the Year for 2015-16. He placed eighth in the weight throw at the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships, which gave him first-team All-America honors.

Valparaiso junior Liz Bloy was the women's honoree.
