Katie Montgomery Named Horizon League Defensive Player of the Week
Indianapolis, Ind. -- For the second time in her career, senior goalkeeper Katie Montgomery has been named the Horizon League Defensive Player of the Week, the league announced on Monday.

The Mariposa, Calif., native recorded six saves and registered her first shutout of the season in a 1-0 win over Robert Morris on Aug. 19.

The win marks the seventh of her career and her fifth career shutout, which ranks tied for third all-time. She also became the 11th YSU goalkeeper to record at least 100 saves and now has 104. She needs five more to move into 10th place on the career saves list.

Last season, Montgomery became the only player in school history to record consecutive shutouts to start a season when the Penguins blanked VMI, 1-0, and Longwood, 1-0.

Youngstown State plays its next three matches on the road beginning with a match up against Central Michigan, Friday, Aug. 26, at 6 p.m.
