Women's Tennis Opens Fall Slate at Four-Team Akron Shootout

Akron, Ohio - The Youngstown State women's tennis team opened fall play at the three-day Akron Shootout which concluded on Sunday. The Penguins played matches against the Zips, Cleveland State and UM-Baltimore County.

Newcomer Noelly Nsimba won singles matches against all three schools over the weekend. Sofia Macias picked up wins over Akron and Cleveland State. Julianna Heino had singles wins over UMBC and Cleveland State.

On Sunday against UMBC, Nsimba and Heino had singles wins against the Retrievers. In doubles play, Dominika Lackova and Nsimba picked up a doubles win against Akron.

On Saturday, YSU won four of six singles matches against Cleveland State as Lackova, Macias, Heino and Nsimba were all victorious.

On Friday, the Penguins and Zips split six singles matches. Winning matches for the Guins were Brendel, Macias and Nsimba. In doubles play, YSU took two of three matches from Cleveland State.

The Penguins are next in action on Oct. 2-3 when they compete at the UT Rocket Invitational.
