Softball Splits on Day One at Under Armour Showcase
Tampa, Fla. -- The Youngstown State softball team picked up its first win of the season after knocking off Maine, 10-4, on Friday afternoon at the USF Under Armour Showcase. The Penguins dropped the second game to Temple, 7-1.

The Penguins, who hammered out 13 hits against Maine, improve to 1-4 on the season with the victory over the Black Bears.

Against Maine, freshman Kelly Stowe went 3-for-4 with a home runs, two runs batted in and scored four times. Senior Caroline Krombach, junior Samantha Snodgrass and Sarah Ingalls and freshman Miranda Castiglione each had two hits.

Ingalls also had a double and drove in three runs.

Junior Casey Crozier picked up her first win of the season pitching five innings and strike out two.

In the loss to Temple, the Penguins tallied just five hits. Senior Vicky Rumph went 1-for-2 and drove in the Penguins only run.

The Penguins take on Fordham and Boston, Saturday, at 2:30 p.m. and 7 p.m., respectively.
