Penguins Come Up Short Against Vandals, 4-3
New Orleans, La. - The Youngstown State women's tennis team dropped a tough 4-3 decision on Sunday to Big Sky member Idaho in action at the Xavier University Tennis Center.

The Vandals (5-7) and Penguins (7-5) split the six singles matches, but Idaho took the doubles point. UI is coached by Myriam Sople, sister of YSU assistant coach Mickael Sopel.

Paula de Man improved to 10-1 on the season with her straight set win at No. 1 over Victoria Lozano, 6-2, 6-0. Marta Burak improved to 9-3 in dual play this spring with a 6-4, 6-1 win at No. 3 over Constance Alexander. Annina Brendel won her third straight decision while imporving to 8-4 this spring with a 6-4, 6-4 win at No. 6.

The Vandals won at No. 2, No. 4 and No. 5 singles in straight sets.

In doubles action, Carolyn Jesko and Brendel teamed up for an 8-6 win at No. 3 over Belen Barcenilla and Sophie Vickers.

The Penguins continue action on Monday against Southern Miss.
